Kochi, Aug 4 (PTI) A car caught fire in Piravom near here on Friday, but its occupants escaped unhurt, fire and rescue officials said.
The incident took place near Aattutheeram Park in Piravom at around 6.10 am, they said.
Flames were seen coming from the front of the 2009-model Maruti Alto owned by Anuraj, a resident of Mevelloor.
The occupants soon got out of the vehicle and alerted the Piravom Fire and Rescue Service station.
A fire and rescue team reached the spot and extinguished the blaze by pumping water from an MTU, averting further danger, officials said.
The burnt-out vehicle was later moved to the roadside to clear the traffic.
The Motor Vehicle Department will examine the vehicle to ascertain the cause of the fire, officials said. PTI TBA SSK
