Kota (Raj) Oct 6 (PTI) An 18-year-old BTech student in Kota was allegedly stabbed to death in what is suspected to be an act of revenge over a previous knife attack by the victim, police said on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said five motorcycle-borne youth ambushed Bhuvnesh Nagar in the residential Pandit Deendayal Nagar locality in the Anantpura area here late Monday night.

The accused came on two bikes and launched an attack with a knife and gave him severe stab wounds and foiled all his attempts to run way.

Bhuvnesh Nagar, a resident of Talwandi, Kota, sustained grave injuries, particularly in his thigh, leading to excessive blood loss. The victim and the accused both have prior criminal cases against them.

Bystanders rushed him to the New Medical College Hospital in Kota, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Following the incident, a Forensics Science Laboratory (FSL) and Mobile Mobile Forensic (MOB) teams gathered evidence from the scene.

Police registered a case of murder against five individuals — ”identified as Rahul alias Baccha, Sagar, Deepu Panda, and two unidentified accomplices, Anantpura police station SHO Mahesh Kumar said.

The victim suffered critical knife wounds on his thigh, causing rapid fatal hemorrhage, he added.

Teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend the culprits, who have prior criminal backgrounds and are currently absconding.

The post-mortem examination was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family for final rites,” the SHO said.

Investigation revealed that the attack was connected to a March 2026 dispute, in which Bhuvnesh had allegedly attacked Rahul with a knife in Anantpura area, leading to an attempted murder case against him.

As Bhuvnesh was a juvenile at the time, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a juvenile home before being released, police said.

Learning about Bhuvnesh’s movement in Pandit Deendayal Nagar on Monday evening, the group cornered him and stabbed him with a knife, they said.

Police noted that the victim’s family claimed he was a first-year BTech student living with his grandmother on Sheela Choudhary Road.

Preliminary findings indicated that Bhuvnesh had multiple criminal cases spending against him across different stations, including Ranpur, the SHO said. PTI COR SKY

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
