Hyderabad, Aug 12 (PTI) Criticising the previous BRS government over its claims of rise in paddy production due the Kaleshwaram project built by it, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said such a yield was due to good monsoon during the last 10 years.

Responding to a newspaper article written by Aldas Janaiah, Vice Chancellor of Prof Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University, he said an additional 40 lakh acres came under cultivation due to 15 lakh new borewells in the state.

Borewells are singularly responsible for 100 percent growth in the irrigable area in Telangana, he said.

“Farmers welfare is determined by the net income that can overcome the growing irrigation expenditure. However, Telangana has not shown any growth on that front in the last 10 years. The entire opposition hoax on agriculture has been exposed. Case over!,” he said in a post on X.

The CM said Telangana farmers have produced record-breaking paddy output in response to ryots-centric policies like farm loan waiver, ‘Rythu Bima’ insurance scheme, ‘Rythu Bharosa’ investment support scheme, 24×7 free power, and water availability in most districts in the last over two years of Congress rule.
