Thane, Jul 21 (PTI) A 36-year-old man was found dead inside the Kalwa railway car shed premises in Maharashtra’s Thane city on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Narendra Ramjivan Sonkar, a resident of Shantinagar Chawl in Kalwa.
The Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) received information about the dead man at 8.54 am, following which a rescue team was rushed to the spot, officials said.
Personnel from the Kalwa police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), the RDMC and the fire brigade participated in the rescue operation.
With the assistance of the RDMC and fire brigade personnel, the body was retrieved from the waterlogged portion of the railway car shed premises and handed over to the Kalwa police for further investigation, officials said.
The body was later shifted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa for a post-mortem examination.
