Kannauj (UP), Oct 6 (PTI) Samajwadi Party national general secretary and Jaswantnagar MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav on Tuesday claimed that the BJP government is on its way out and the INDIA bloc will form the government in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters here, Yadav said the election would be fought under the leadership of SP president Akhilesh Yadav.

“The BJP government is going and its countdown has begun. The INDIA bloc will form the government in the 2027 Assembly elections,” he said.

Asked about the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the challenge it could pose in the elections, Yadav said the party’s political existence had “ended”.

“The BSP has broken up. Whatever the BJP says, the BSP will do,” he alleged.

On seat-sharing among the INDIA bloc constituents, Yadav said the decision would be taken by the national leadership.

Yadav also alleged that the BJP indulges in “vote theft” and claimed that it also steals offerings made to God.

Asked about the Election Commission, he said people were now on the streets and demanded that elections should be conducted fairly.

“Elections should be held honestly,” he said.

Yadav arrived in Kannauj in the afternoon and was accorded a warm welcome.

He attended a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha being held at the residence of SP leader Jai Kumar Tiwari ‘Bauwan’.

Speaking about his participation in the religious programme, Yadav said his family had always participated in religious events with faith and enthusiasm. PTI COR ABN APL

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
