Bengaluru, Oct 7 (PTI) Opposition BJP leaders in Karnataka on Tuesday hit out at Chief Minister D K Shivakumar over his reported warning to Cabinet colleagues to remain cautious as sting operations could be carried out to tarnish their image and that of the government.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka alleged that the warning reflected the Congress’ own past practices and claimed that several ruling party MLAs had realised that it would not return to power.
“Because they themselves did it in the past and they themselves used to do the same thing, that’s why they say, a thief’s mind is always suspicious,” he said.
Ashoka alleged that Congress was a “divided house” and claimed its MLAs were already contacting BJP leaders. He also alleged that the government had failed to provide funds for development.
Senior BJP leader C T Ravi accused Shivakumar of effectively advising ministers to indulge in corruption without getting caught.
Ravi said the chief minister should instead have followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s purported approach of not taking bribes or allowing others to take them.
The BJP leaders’ remarks came a day after Shivakumar reportedly cautioned his Cabinet colleagues about possible sting operations aimed at damaging their image and that of the government. PTI GMS SA
