Jaipur, Aug 30 (PTI) The BJP on Sunday said it had held detailed discussions on candidates for the upcoming urban local body elections in Jaipur division and asserted that there was no deadlock over ticket distribution.
Former BJP state president Arun Chaturvedi said candidates for Jaipur and other districts in the division were discussed one by one at different levels.
“Discussions were held on two districts of Alwar division on Saturday, while today candidates from Jaipur and all districts of Jaipur division were considered,” Chaturvedi said.
He said there was no deadlock in the party over candidate selection and the BJP would finalise tickets after examining surveys conducted at different levels and consulting party functionaries and elected representatives.
“The best candidates will be selected on the basis of dialogue and consultation with party office-bearers and public representatives. Symbols will be allotted after detailed discussions on all names,” he said.
Former minister Prabhu Lal Saini expressed confidence that the BJP would form the board in Jaipur.
He said meetings were held with MLAs, ministers, former legislators and party functionaries and the selection process was being carried out on the basis of their feedback and surveys.
“The BJP will contest the elections on its development works and welfare schemes. We are moving forward with a resolve to make Jaipur safe, clean and green,” Saini said.
He said the party would contest the elections unitedly and candidates would file their nominations in the presence of party leaders and workers. PTI SDA MDO MDO
