Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 27 (PTI) BJP councillors of the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation on Monday staged a protest at the office of the Managing Director of the KWA demanding immediate steps to resolve the ongoing drinking water crisis in the city.
The councillors, including women members, entered the office of the Kerala Water Authority MD’s office holding party flags, raising slogans and staged a sit-in there, virtually laying siege to the premises.
The councillors met the Managing Director, submitted their demands and urged to restore normal water supply in affected areas.
The protest followed a heated council meeting of the corporation and comes amid continuous demand by BJP workers against the prolonged shortage of drinking water in many parts of the state capital.
According to the protesters, several parts of the city have been facing complete disruption of water supply for days, severely affecting residents.
The BJP, which rules the Thiruvananthapuram city Corporation, blamed the ruling LDF government in the state and the KWA for the crisis, alleging “failure” to ensure adequate supply. PTI LGK ROH
