Sakleshpur (Karnataka), Sep 16 (PTI) A 23-year-old woman from Bengaluru died under suspicious circumstances at a lodge here, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Varsha, they said.
Police said they received information about the incident at around 7.50 pm on September 15.
Speaking to reporters here, Hassan district Superintendent of Police Shubhanwita said Varsha had come to Sakleshpur on September 11 with her two friends, Raghu and Darshan.
On September 15, Varsha reportedly collapsed while taking a bath. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Sakleshpur Government Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival, the SP said.
“As soon as the local police got the information, we informed Varsha’s parents, who came here from Bengaluru. They lodged an Unnatural Death Report complaint under Section 194 (3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the complaint has been taken up by us,” she said.
The body has been sent for postmortem examination, she said.
“Once the postmortem examination is complete, we will know the exact cause of death. As of now, the investigation and inquiry are ongoing. Once the postmortem report comes, we will be able to establish how and why she died,” the SP added. PTI AMP SSK
