Guwahati, Oct 1 (PTI) Assam’s wildlife tourism season is set to kick off with the reopening of the Manas National Park on October 2, officials said on Thursday.

The Kaziranga National Park will reopen on October 3 and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on October 13, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a social media post.

“With the Manas National Park reopening on October 2, Kaziranga National Park on October 3, and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on October 13, Assam is ready to welcome visitors back to its rich natural landscapes,” it said.

Minister for Environment and Forest, Jayanta Malla Baruah, in another post, said with the monsoon giving way to a new tourism season, Assam is ready to welcome visitors back to some of its most iconic wildlife destinations.

“As our parks and sanctuaries reopen their gates, I extend a warm invitation to wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and travellers from across the country and beyond to come and experience Assam’s extraordinary biodiversity,” Baruah said.

He added that forest department teams are preparing to welcome tourists to another season in the wild. PTI DG RBT

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
