Guwahati, Sep 4 (PTI) A special court in Assam’s Kamrup Metropolitan district has sentenced three people to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment in a six-year-old drug trafficking case, the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Guwahati Zonal Unit said on Friday.
The NDPS court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on each of the convicts, two of whom, Shakil Khan and Md. Yahiya Khan, are from Manipur and the other, Mithilesh Kumar, from Bihar.
Failing to pay the amount would lead to an additional one-year jail term, the NCB said.
They were arrested from the Six Mile area of Guwahati in October 2020 with 2.146 kg of methamphetamine, officials said, and a case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. PTI SSG SSG NSD
