New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday the ongoing Kumbh in Haridwar should now have symbolic participation due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Modi tweeted that he spoke to Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara over telephone and enquired about the health of saints, many of whom have contracted the infection, and also conveyed his appreciation for their cooperation with the local administration.

“I prayed that two ‘shahi snan’ have taken place and Kumbh (participation) should now be kept symbolic. This will boost the fight against this crisis,” the prime minister tweeted in Hindi.

Responding to Modi’s call, Avdheshanand urged people to not come to the Kumbh mela for bathing in large numbers due to the COVID-19 situation and to follow the rules.

Saving one’s and other’s lives is sacred, he added.

The ongoing Kumbh, which has seen people from different parts of the country attending the auspicious event in large numbers, has drawn flak from various quarters as the number of COVID-19 cases has zoomed at a rapid pace in the past few weeks. The event has also reported the coronavirus cases in large numbers.

The ongoing Kumbh has already been shortened this year to just one month from April 1 to 30 due to the pandemic. In normal circumstances, the event, which comes once in 12 years, is held from mid January to April.

  1. Does BJP have guts enough to openly defend the comments below?

Earlier people voted for BJP expecting them to work transparently, for the nation, as a “TEAM” by taking into confidence all legitimate “politicians and subject matter specialists” irrespective of which political party they may belong. It is however seen that BJP has become a “GANG” (Modi-Shah duo + their selected political-advisors + BJP’s pseudo-Hindus + borrowed Thag-s from other parties). Genuine Hindu-s and “all-accommodative Hinduism” are sidelined. Other political parties too of course are doing the same thing. Good works being done are purely individualistic by nature – certainly not due to political support.

By appealing now (after the damage already is done), the GANG is treating Indians as fools. They even are not bothering about spoilage of India’s international image. SCIENCE is totally ignored. BJP has “majority” and thus could have easily stopped Kumbh gathering well in advance. On the contrary, the GANG has used “power and quickness” when it was absolutely unnecessary (e.g. demonetization, all India lock-down, farmers’ laws etc). Farmers are sacrificing their lives & families and still fighting. But “sold-out media” have stopped giving coverage to this. “Elections” was the only important target for the GANG.

Today’s BJP, or the pretending GANG, wears a “mask of Hindutva”. They run away when it is required to implement philosophies of genuine Hindus (Shivaji Maharaj, Maharana Pratap, Vivekananda, Savarkar and so many more from N-E-W-S India). They intentionally ignore the fact that, genuine-saints of every religion have unanimously spoken same affectionate philosophy, but only in different words & languages. E.g. if lord Krishna said “अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (entire world has single soul only)”, the great Ghalib too confirmed the same thing by saying “……वो जगह बता दे, जहाँ पर ख़ुदा न हो (show me the place where God does not exist)”. What else we need to know?

  2. Whether people call you BJP supporter or Modi supporter or Blind followers they are entitled to there opinion depending on there knowledge..but the people of India excluding the ones…?…who have chosen Modi for Second term definitely believe this man with his party has a potential to deliver.Under his government some unimaginable gutsy decision were made abrogation of article 370 35a, triple talk ban, gst, India’s image and ties globally.. politician will come and go…but the people who take genuine pride in being Indian will definitely and don’t shyway being proud Indian will always support the people who stand for India and work for India so doesn’t matter if it’s Modi or any citizen of India

  3. I get messages from bhakths praising Modi for advising the Kumb to tone down a bit. They tell me ‘see how flexible is our sanatan dharma and appreciate Modi’s leadership and guidance to us in these difficult times, who else could have done this’.

As usual, it is a weak guidance, and a little bit too late. The bhakts are firm believers in Modi, like followers of Baba Ram Rahim. India can only flounder in the mess created by Modi’s rule.
