Itanagar, Oct 27 (PTI) Police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district on Tuesday flagged off Shivgeet Singh Hooda for a nearly 3,590-km ride from Tezu in eastern India to Koteshwar in Gujarat in western India.
The ride is an endurance challenge that will take Hooda across several states and varied road conditions, testing his physical stamina, riding skills and ability to maintain discipline over a long distance.
The police extended their best wishes to Hooda for a safe and successful journey, describing the departure from Tezu as the beginning of an ambitious national endeavour that reflects determination, perseverance and a spirit of adventure.
The flag-off ceremony also brought attention to Tezu as a starting point for a long-distance motorcycle expedition linking India’s eastern and western extremities.
Hooda’s attempt comes against the backdrop of an earlier east-to-west motorcycle record set by Bengaluru-based biker Balaji Mohan, who rode from Tezu to Koteshwar in Gujarat in 66 hours and 37 minutes in March 2017, covering about 3,743 km.
Hooda, who hails from Gurugram in Haryana, has also undertaken other long-distance motorcycle challenges. According to the India Book of Records, he completed a solo motorcycle expedition from Srinagar to Kanyakumari in April 2026, covering 3,696.7 km in 54 hours and 44 minutes.
Koteshwar, the intended destination, lies in Gujarat’s Kutch district near the Arabian Sea and is known for the historic Koteshwar Mahadev temple. The coastal location makes it a prominent landmark in the western part of the country.
Police wished Hooda a safe, successful and memorable ride, while people in Arunachal Pradesh expressed hope that he would complete the journey and achieve his goal. PTI CORR RG
