Armed Forces Medical College commissions 120 medical graduates into Indian Armed Forces

The cadets from the 58th batch of AFMC performed exceptionally well in the MUHS winter 2023 examinations and a total of 147 cadets graduated, including five from other foreign countries.

New Delhi: One hundred and twenty medical graduates of the 58th batch of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) were commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces on April 25, 2024, at the Capt Devashish Sharma, Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, AFMC.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) and Senior Colonel Commandant, Army Medical Corps Lt Gen Daljit Singh. The graduating ceremony was commanded by medical cadet (now Lieutenant) Sushil Kumar Singh.

The DGAFMS congratulated the newly commissioned officers and wished them a bright and prosperous future. The cadets from the 58th batch of AFMC performed exceptionally well in the MUHS winter 2023 examinations and a total of 147 cadets graduated, including five from other foreign countries. Eighty-seven of the 112 cadets commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services are gentlemen cadets and 25 are lady cadets, said a statement by the PIB. Eighty-eight of the cadets were commissioned into the Army, 10 into the Navy, and 14 into the Air Force.

After the commissioning ceremony, an academic awards presentation ceremony was held, under which the President’s Gold Medal and the Kalinga Trophy were awarded to two of the most prestigious students of the college. Flying Officer Ayush Jaiswal received the President’s Gold Medal and Surgeon Sub Lieutenant Bani Kaur received the Kalinga Trophy.
