Amaravati, July 26 (PTI) The APCPDCL has synchronised 50,114 rooftop solar connections with a cumulative installed capacity of 180 MW to the power grid under the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’.

APCPDCL Chairman and Managing Director P Pullareddy said that the milestone marked a sharp increase from April 2025, when only 6,489 rooftop solar connections had been completed.

“Only 6,489 rooftop solar connections had been completed up to April 2025. Over the last one year alone, APCPDCL added another 43,625 connections, taking the total to 50,114 connections, reflecting the corporation’s commitment to promoting renewable energy and clean power generation” Pullareddy said in a release late on Saturday.

He attributed the achievement to the relentless efforts of Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL) officers, engineers and field staff, besides extensive consumer awareness campaigns, continuous guidance to consumers from the application stage to grid synchronisation and proactive coordination at every level.

According to the CMD, daily review meetings with empanelled vendors helped resolve issues promptly, ensured smooth execution of installations and accelerated project implementation.

He said the dedicated efforts of field staff, close monitoring by senior officers and effective coordination with vendors played a key role in achieving the milestone.

Pullareddy congratulated Director (Projects) TVSN Murthy, the Projects Wing and others for their outstanding contribution to the achievement.

He reiterated that APCPDCL would continue accelerating rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, contribute to the state’s renewable energy goals and enable consumers to reduce their electricity bills through clean and sustainable energy.

The Centre has launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana which aims to light up one crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month. PTI MS KH
