Barwani (MP), Aug 3 (PTI) Ants were allegedly found crawling on the body of a 58-year-old woman in the postmortem room of the district hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani on Monday, causing anguish among her relatives.
Officials said Radhabai Dodwe, who had sustained serious injuries in a road accident, died during treatment at the district hospital on the night of Aug 2. Her body was kept for postmortem examination.
Her relative, Vishnu Bande, told reporters that the family found ants allegedly crawling on her face, nose, ears and mouth when they saw the body before autopsy.
He alleged that the body had been left outside overnight despite the availability of freezer facilities in the hospital mortuary.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Jaipal Singh Thakur said, “The matter has come to my notice. Necessary action will be taken after discussing it with the Civil Surgeon.” PTI COR HWP LAL NSK
