Hyderabad, Oct 27 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead a padayatra from the Swami Vivekananda statue to the Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund here on November 2 as part of the Telangana BJP’s campaign against what it termed the Congress’s “false narrative” on the SIR of electoral rolls.

The foot march assumes significance as it will be held a day after the Congress’s public rally against alleged vote chori (theft) at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1.

The march, themed ‘Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy – Remove Anarchy), will begin at 4 pm on November 2, the Telangana BJP said in a statement on Tuesday.

The objective of the march is to expose what the party described as conspiracies by the Congress and other INDIA bloc parties, alleging that they prioritise self-interest over national interests and support anarchists, the statement said.

The Telangana BJP invited intellectuals, nationalists and party cadres to participate in the march in large numbers.

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar said a ‘Save Democracy’ rally would be held in Karimnagar on November 5.

“They (Congress) are trying to create anarchy in the state and country. That’s why, we are going to organise a padayatra with the theme Loktantra Bachao – Arajakta Hatao. Amit Shah ji will attend the padayatra on 2nd (of November),” Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao had said on Monday. PTI SJR SSK
