Lucknow, Sep 18 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday promised that if his party forms the government in Uttar Pradesh, it will introduce a waiting list system in all recruitments conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), saying the move would benefit lakhs of job aspirants.
In a statement issued by the party, Yadav said the demand for a waiting list was justified as it would allow another candidate to get a seat if a selected candidate vacates it.
“We are committed to fulfilling this demand when we form the new government,” Yadav said, according to the statement.
He said it was unfortunate that the “immense energy” of young men and women was being spent in seeking jobs and employment instead of nation-building.
“We add our voice to that of all UPSSSC aspirants and stand with you in support of all your demands, under every circumstance, and will always stand with you,” Yadav said.
UP goes to polls early next year. Led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the BJP government has been in power in the state for the last two terms since 2017.
Yadav alleged that the BJP government would not introduce such a system and claimed that jobs were not on its agenda.
He said the waiting list system could benefit lakhs of candidates and also “somewhat reduce the stain” on the BJP of spreading “maha-berozgari” (mass unemployment).
“After struggling for so many years, you have seen that nothing except pain can be obtained from the insensitive and heartless BJP,” Yadav said, adding that job aspirants should also be counted among those facing hardship.
