Agra: The Agra police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his father to implicate his neighbours with whom he had a fallout. The accused was identified as Subhas, a resident of Majhtila village.
According to the Khera Rathore police station, Bhuri Devi lodged a complaint on 21 October that her husband Lal Singh, a farmer, was attacked on the night of 15 October. Singh had gone to his patch of land to guard his millet crop and was sleeping there at the time of the attack.
He was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.
Bhuri Devi identified the attackers as Ramgyan of Birkhepura, Gorelal, Gorelal’s son Pradeep, and Pawan of Prathampura. Later, the police investigation revealed that some of these men had thrashed Subhas and his wife two months earlier over a purported dispute.
Lal Singh was admitted to a hospital but died during treatment on 26 October.
Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Khera Rathore police station in which the accused were booked for murder and other relevant charges.
In view of the seriousness of the crime, police teams were formed headed by the assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Bah.
On 20 December, the victim’s son Subhash was called to the police station for questioning. Subhash confessed to having committed the crime when he was put under sustained questioning, according to the police.
He told the police that he had a quarrel with the family of neighbor Ramgyan and that he attacked his father to implicate Ramgyan and family.
On the night of the incident, police said, he attacked his father with an axe in the dark, but hurt his head in the process, suffering a serious injury.
His mother Bhuri Devi then allegedly got a false case registered against Ramgyan and the others to save her son, said police. Subhash is now under arrest.
