Chandigarh, May 4 (PTI) After the UDF’s impressive victory in Kerala, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said his party will now form the government in the northern state where assembly elections are due early next year.

Warring said the Congress emerged much stronger in Kerala as it had earlier won Lok Sabha and local bodies elections also.

On West Bengal results, the Ludhiana MP said there were many factors responsible for the TMC’s defeat.

He alleged that besides “partiality” by the Election Commission, “failures” of the TMC government were also responsible for its defeat.

The BJP, besides “misusing” its power and other agencies, “exploited” the “rampant corruption and lawlessness” in Bengal to its own advantage, he said here.

The Congress did not approve of what was happening in Bengal under the TMC rule and that was the reason the party contested all the 294 assembly segments, he said.

The PCC president also took a dig at the Punjab BJP leaders who were gloating over the Bengal and Assam results.

“Let me tell them, Punjab is more like Tamil Nadu and Kerala and less like Bengal or Assam,” he said, adding that in Punjab, the BJP’s performance will be worse than that in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

“You can’t polarize people in Punjab and that is my guarantee…and without polarization, you (BJP) cannot win even a single seat,” he said.

Warring further said that the BJP also owes an answer to the people of Punjab as to why its government in Gujarat is “protecting and patronizing” gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, alleged mastermind in the murder case of singer Sidhu Moosewala.

“Be ready to face these questions before you start daydreaming about winning Punjab,” he said. PTI CHS KVK KVK
