New Delhi: No fewer than 47.56 lakh voters, making up 32.78 per cent of the electorate, stand deleted in the draft voter roll published on Monday in Delhi after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Of the 47.56 lakh deleted voters, a major chunk—43.32 lakh or 29.86 per cent— were categorised as permanently shifted or absent; 2.82 lakh or 1.95 per cent of voters have been marked as deceased, and 1.41 lakh or 0.98 per cent of voters were marked as duplicates or enrolled at multiple places in the electoral roll. Those found enrolled at multiple places will be retained only at one place.
A total of 97.53 lakh enumeration forms, amounting to 67.22 per cent of the electorate before the SIR, were collected from the voters. At the start of the SIR exercise, 1.45 crore voters were enrolled in the rolls of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The period for filing claims and objections has now begun from Monday, and will continue up till 30 September.
The phase of issuance of notices and disposal of claims and objections has also begun, and will continue till 29 October. The final electoral roll will be published on 4 November.
In case any elector was unable to submit their filled-in enumeration forms within the specified time period of 30 June to 17 August, they can file Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration form for their inclusion in the electoral roll during the claims and objections period.
Out of the 97.53 electors who are a part of the draft electoral roll, 49.88 lakh are male electors and 47.64 lakh are female electors; 447 voters belong to the third gender.
As per information released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, the Assembly constituency with the largest electorate is Matiala, with 3.33 lakh voters, while the constituency with the smallest electorate is Delhi Cantt, with 41,654 voters.
