New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) A survey on Tuesday claimed that most of the respondents described Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an “affront to the dignity of the PM’s office” and also called it a reflection of the main opposition party’s “desperation”.
The survey conducted by Matrize News Communications, a little-known agency, claimed that 72 per cent of the total 5,000 respondents also believed that Kharge’s remark demonstrated a “lack of respect for Sanatan culture and Indian values”.
Kharge sparked a controversy on Sunday with his “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” remark in response to an audience member’s comment that “the prime minister would not go anywhere” during a Patna event organised to celebrate the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar’s first chief minister Shrikrishna Singh.
“Most participants expressed candid views, describing the statement as an affront to the dignity of the office of the prime minister, an insult to Sanatan culture and Indian values, and a reflection of the Congress party’s desperation,” it said.
The agency said the survey was carried out between October 25 and October 27 through CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing).
“Sixty-eight per cent of respondents stated that Kharge’s remark undermines the dignity of the Prime Minister’s Office. When asked whether the statement reflects the Congress’ desperation and ideological bankruptcy, 54 per cent of respondents answered in the affirmative,” it added. PTI PK KSI
