Nahan (HP), Oct 4 (PTI) Three people died when their speeding car rammed into the rear of a truck on the Yamuna Bridge connecting Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, police said on Sunday.
The accident occurred around 10.30 pm on Saturday when a Hyundai Creta car headed to Uttarakhand collided with the truck ahead of it, according to Paonta police.
The impact left the car completely mangled.
The bodies were extricated with difficulty by the police and some locals and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared all three dead.
The deceased were Tarsem Singh, 32, a resident of Shillai in Sirmaur district, Amit Kumar, 37, a resident of Shanti Nagar in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and Sonu, 30, a resident of Greater Noida.
The post-mortem examinations would be conducted at Civil Hospital in Paonta on Sunday.
Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi confirmed the deaths and said the Paonta police have registered a case and launched an investigation. PTI COR BPL SMV VN
