Guwahati, Sep 16 (PTI) The police on Wednesday apprehended 10 suspected Bangladeshis without valid travel documents from a private lodge in the Paltan Bazaar area of the city, an officer said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a search and nabbed them from three rooms of the lodge.
They allegedly entered the city with the help of local touts and did not have valid travel or identity documents, the officer said.
They will be subsequently handed over to border police who will take necessary steps to send them back to their country.
The police are conducting further probe into the network that facilitates their entry from the neighbouring country, the officer said.
The owner of the lodge is also being interrogated to ascertain why he allowed them to stay without checking the required documents. PTI DG NN
