Auli, Uttrakhand: The 18th edition of the annual Indo-US joint training exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ 2022 is underway in the picturesque town of Auli in Uttarakhand. Aimed at increasing interoperability through an exchange of best practices, tactics, procedures, and techniques, this is the first high-altitude exercise between armies of the two Quad allies.
American troops of the 40th Cavalry Regiment under the 2nd Brigade, 11th Airborne Division, are taking part in the exercise alongside Indian soldiers from the Assam Regiment.
Besides integrated battle groups, force multipliers, establishment and functioning of surveillance grids, validation of operational logistics, mountain warfare skills, casualty evacuation and combat medical aid in adverse terrain and climatic conditions, the joint exercise will also on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
Auli is also where the Indian Army set up its first Foreign Training Node at a high altitude. This facility is located about 100 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
