Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): On the last day of campaigning before the third phase of Lok Sabha elections on 7 May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held his first roadshow in Ayodhya. This was his first visit to the Ram Janmabhoomi since the consecration ceremony in January.
Before hitting the roads, Modi visited the Ram temple and then embarked on the roadshow from Sugriva Fort, extending over a 2-km stretch to Lata Chowk. The city’s sole Lok Sabha seat, Faizabad, will go to polls on 20 May.
The roadshow’s route was segmented into 40 blocks where communities, such as Sindhis, Punjabis, farmers and women donning traditional attire showcased cultural performances, creating a corridor for onlookers to view the Prime Minister.
Ayodhya was adorned with a lavish display of lights, floral arrangements, and posters featuring Modi alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The crowd and supporters shouting Modi slogans stood along the streets — showering the PM with flowers as he passed by.
Capturing the vibrant atmosphere of the electoral excitement in Ayodhya, ThePrint’s Suraj Singh Bisht documented PM Modi’s roadshow.
