However, an investigation by SM HoaxSlayer and ThePrint shows that this video is from Palestine, not from India.
The video also claims that people have been burnt alive in this incident, though it also shows that after travelling some distance, the burning cable car stops at one of the towers where rescue is attempted. The claimed death toll and identity of the victims vary from post to post. There are also differently-edited versions of the video — in some posts, there is no background sound, while others feature instrumental music.
The video was circulated Saturday by a Facebook page called Kharar live, and now has over 7,000 views and more than 2,800 shares. It is also being shared by numerous public and personal pages, as well as on other platforms like YouTube.
Incident occurred in 2015
On 9 March 2015, UK digital media outlet Metro reported on this incident, citing Palestinian media. It said the fire broke out after a production assistant with a programme Abu-Sharik Visits the Cable Cars used a firecracker without permission.
Metro initially reported that the passengers of the cable car were successfully pulled back to safety, but later, it said two people suffered minor injuries.
