New Delhi: Images of tweets that were allegedly posted by actor Sushant Singh Rajput hours before his death have been doing the rounds. The images, which show three tweets, surfaced Sunday afternoon as the news of his suicide broke.
The content of the tweets indicate a rather desolate tone.
“I fought back hard with life. I will be deleting these tweets in a while so just some of you know that I’m done with this mediocre success. I don’t want fame anymore. Its all so peaceful yet so disturbing to handle,” one ‘tweet’ read.
In another, the ‘tweet’ read: “We men are not asked about our health, our mental state, our lives, our thoughts. We are not treated that way. I know I have been through a lot lately. I have been tired of trying so hard. Its been a long journey with you people. I don’t know why I am tweeting this….”

In the third, it appeared the actor was posting a suicidal note.
“I’m ending all this for good. Going far yet so close to you people. Maybe after this people try to communicate with others rather than holding onto the thoughts. See ya at the other side. Goodbye,” image of the ‘tweet’ shows.
The images gained traction, with Aaj Tak running them as a part of its news broadcast. However, the news portal later deleted it from its social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
Several other news portals also publicised the images, stating they were indicative of Rajput’s intent to take his life.
These images were also widely shared on Facebook too.

If one examines the tweets, the time and date format is different from what Twitter usually displays. They also all appear to have been posted at the same time: 5.43 am on 14 June.
The images of the ‘tweets’ don’t show any retweets or comments either.
Further, a search for replies to the tweet on Twitter doesn’t throw up any results.
When one types ‘to:(twitter handle)’ in the search bar, it shows the list of replies to any tweet of a particular handle, even if the tweets have been deleted.
However, this search for Sushant Singh Rajput’s Twitter account doesn’t show any replies to these particular three tweets. A quick check of his account shows Rajput had last tweeted in December 2019.
All the images of the ‘tweets’ appear to be of bad quality, with the actual display photograph of the account unclear.
Also, in a genuine tweet, the text is left aligned to the display picture of the Twitter handle. However, in the case of these ‘tweets’, there is no such alignment.
