India’s Covid recovery rate rises to 97.25%, 78 deaths recorded in 24 hours

New Delhi: The total number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against Covid-19 crossed 60 lakh till 8 am Tuesday. India has become the fastest country to vaccinate 6 million people in 24 days. The US had vaccinated 6 million in 26 days, while 6 million beneficiaries were immunised in the UK in 46 days.

In the last 24 hours, 9,110 news cases of Covid-19 were registered. Six states and union territories account for 81.39 per cent of the new cases.

The total number of active cases in India stood at 1,43,625 Tuesday. The active caseload accounts for 1.32 per cent of India’s total positive cases.

India recorded 78 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,55,158 fatalities have been recorded.

India’s case fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent Tuesday. Punjab continued to record the highest mortality rate in India, at 3.2 per cent. This was followed by Maharashtra at 2.5 per cent and Sikkim at 2.2 per cent.

India conducted 6,87,138 tests in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 20,25,87,752 samples have been collected.

Positivity rate

The test positivity rate in India increased to 1.3 per cent Tuesday. The overall positivity rate, calculated since the beginning of the pandemic, is 5.4 per cent. On Monday, India’s positivity rate stood at 2.2 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 14,016 people recovered from Covid-19. The total number of recovered cases, since the beginning of the pandemic, has crossed over 1.05 crore (1,05,48,521).

India’s recovery rate stands at 97.25 per cent.

As many as 60,35,660 people have been vaccinated so far across 1,24,744 sessions. On Monday, 2,23,298 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 8,257 sessions.

Uttar Pradesh has conducted the most number of vaccinations, at 6,73,542. This is followed by Maharashtra at 4,97,095, Gujarat at 4,70,384 and Rajasthan at 4,62,962.

A total of 1,08,47,304 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic. The largest number of cases so far have been reported from Maharashtra, followed by Karnataka and Kerala.

States with the highest active cases

Kerala continued to report the highest number of active cases recorded in India at 65,670. On Tuesday, the state reported the highest number of daily new cases, at 5,959. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Kerala has reported 9,72,180 cases of Covid-19 and 3,883 deaths.

Maharashtra recorded the second highest number of active cases in India at 35,991. It reported 3,423 new cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in Maharashtra stand at 20,46,287 and deaths at 51,325.

Karnataka recorded the third highest number of active cases at 5,953. The total number of cases recorded in the state stand at 9,42,846 and deaths at 12,239.

West Bengal recorded the fourth highest number of active cases at 4,632. The total number of cases recorded in West Bengal stand at 5,71,490 and deaths at 10,209.

Tamil Nadu recorded the fifth highest number of active cases at 4,354. The total number of cases recorded in the state stand at 8,42,261 and deaths at 12,387.
