New Delhi: Hania Aamir and Rakhi Sawant’s blossoming sisterhood has taken the cross-border internet by storm. It all started when Aamir released the Punjabi rap song Pablo to mark her decade-long presence in the Pakistani film and TV industry. It featured a voice note from India’s OG internet sensation Sawant, who hypes up Aamir, calling her a ‘queen’.

When certain reviewers slammed the song, Sawant would not have any of it and came to the defence of her sweetheart.

Pakistani commentator Dr Ejaz was less than impressed with Aamir’s latest song. In an Instagram video titled “Hania Aamir’s Pablo Is Simply A Mess,” he questioned why a star of Aamir’s stature would choose what he described as a “bad” track to mark such a significant career milestone. After a decade in the entertainment industry, Ejaz argued, Aamir should have gone for something “bigger.”

For him, Sawant was the song’s saving grace.

“The best part of the song was Rakhi Sawant. If she weren’t in it, the song would have been completely bland,” Ejaz said. “There’s a bit of life in the song now, thanks to Rakhi Sawant’s lines. Otherwise, the video isn’t that enjoyable, the production quality isn’t up to scratch, and the tune isn’t there either.”

Sawant, however, defended Aamir.

Commenting on Ejaz’s video, she wrote: “Listen, I love you all but do not say anything to my honey. She’s my sweetheart. Haniya.”

‘Hania Amir can’t be good at everything’

Sawant is a girl’s girl. She has since then shared all the videos and posts about the song on her Instagram stories. Even other actors like Mahira Khan, Iqra Aziz and others appreciated her debut music.

But Pakistanis remain unconvinced. “Hania Amir needs to know that u cannot be good at everything and that’s completely okay darling,” X user Bubbles added.

Another said, “hania amir ka gaana sun’ne ke baad chahat fateh ke liye nafrat kam hogyi.”

The friendship between the two blossomed in 2025 when the Indian celebrity claimed that she was going to visit Pakistan to meet her “sister”, Hania Aamir.

The effervescent Aamir responded by saying she was on her way to the airport to pick her up.

“I just wanted to say, life was quite sad before Rakhi ji came into my life. Rakhi ji, I’m coming to pick you up from the airport!” she then said.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
