Mixed reviews
The milestone comes at a crucial point for Jana Nayagan, which has been billed as Vijay’s final film before he moved into full-time politics. The film was released after months of delay and censor-related controversy. It eventually reached theatres with an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification after 12 changes.
Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.
Reviews have been mixed, but the film has held through its first weekend. Its four-day total also makes it Vijay’s third-biggest opening weekend at the India box office, after Leo and The Greatest of All Time.
