New Delhi: Young Ruchika Singh was at the centre of controversy after a video of her abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral during a Cockroach Janta Party protest. Now, a fresh video has surfaced where the teenager is seen calling PM Modi “a coward”.

“You have made my life hell. You have hounded a 15-year-old girl so much that she has been tortured everywhere… Modi ji, you are a coward,” Singh said.

In the 60-second video, which has gone viral on social media, Singh went on to say that she is not going to back down.

“I have nothing to lose now. Whatever I had is gone. Neither can I go anywhere. Nor do I have any freedom. Nor can I live anywhere,” Singh added

After Singh’s first video went viral, she faced a huge backlash online and offline. A complaint was filed against her, and a Zero FIR was registered at Noida’s Expressway Police Station on 29 July.

Soon, Singh faced intense public scrutiny and her family was forced to leave their rented accommodation in Noida. The family then moved to Haryana to stay with their relatives.

Political parties join in

The video has triggered an online political slugfest, with parties joining in to corner the BJP.

“This is the real face of Narendra Modi, who yells ‘Fraands-Fraands’ on Instagram to Gen Z,” Congress India posted on X.

The Aam Aadmi Party also shared the video on its official X page.

“She was hounded, threatened and forced to apologise to Modi. Even after apologising, the witch-hunt against her didn’t stop and now, she has finally had enough. She is calling out Modi, directly, again and has promised to not back down this time,” the post said.

The 15-year-old had previously posted a video apologising to the prime minister with folded hands.

“I had gone to Connaught Place with a friend. A protest was taking place nearby, and many groups had gathered there. People were using abusive language against the Prime Minister. They encouraged me to say something as well. I got influenced and ended up saying many things. I am only 15 years old,” she had said.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
