Bhubaneswar, Oct 5 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated the redeveloped state-of-the-art Kalinga Studio here.
He also inaugurated a dedicated archive and museum established at the Kalinga Studio to preserve cinematic heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Majhi said that from now on Odia filmmakers would no longer need to look to other states for technical work. Several world-class facilities have been made available here at the Kalinga Studio, while several other such facilities would be provided in the future, he said.
The Kalinga Studio has been redeveloped into a self-contained ecosystem, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and designed to meet the demands of changing times and the digital era, he stated.
It features modern infrastructure for indoor shooting floors, a snow house, a chroma floor, a tech zone, sound recording, dubbing, editing, and post-production.
Additionally, he said, a dedicated archive and museum have been established to preserve cinematic heritage, where vintage films, posters, photographs, and historical documents will be conserved.
On this occasion, the chief minister recalled the legacy of Kalinga Studio and the history of Odia cinema.
He noted that during the 1950s and 1960s, timeless films such as ‘Maa’, ‘Amadebata’, and ‘Matira Manisha’ had forged a deep bond between Odia literature and cinema.
Although Kalinga Studio was established in 1980 to facilitate film production in Odisha, its renovation became essential over time due to natural calamities and rapid technological advancements.
Expressing optimism about the state’s talented youth, he noted that today’s young generation is excelling in fields such as acting, direction, cinematography, animation, sound design, and storytelling for digital platforms.
Kalinga Studio will serve as a key medium for realising their dreams, he said and urged the young people to create films rooted in original stories, folklore, history, and cultural heritage.
The chief minister also launched the new official portal of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC). PTI BBM AAM AAM RG
