Bhopal, Oct 8 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other political leaders in the state condoled the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, who passed away at his residence in Dona Paula near Panaji in Goa on Thursday.

Patekar’s demise is an irreparable loss to the world of art, Yadav said in his condolence message.

Yadav said that Patekar, through his versatile personality and outstanding contribution, carved out a special place in the hearts of countless people.

The CM prayed to Lord Mahakal to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and give strength to Patekar’s family members and fans to bear the loss.

Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Umang Singhar said Patekar created a distinct identity in the world of cinema through his powerful acting and memorable roles.

“His demise is an irreparable loss to the world of art,” Singhar said.

Former chief minister Kamal Nath said Patekar would always be remembered for his acting and for raising social issues.

BJP national general secretary and Madhya Pradesh in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb said Patekar’s death was a deep loss for Indian cinema.

“Patekar carved out a distinct identity through his powerful acting, distinctive voice and unmatched artistry in films such as Ankush, Prahaar and Kranti Veer. His remarkable contribution to Indian cinema will continue to inspire generations,” Deb said in a post on X.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
