New Delhi: A podcast appearance by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio, has become a talking point on Instagram. The couple appeared on The Katie Miller Podcast on 12 August, where they spoke about their marriage, family life, and Marco’s career.
And social media users have been amused — and, in some cases, infuriated — by the way Marco’s wife repeatedly corrected her husband’s answers during the conversation. He is one of the most powerful men in Trump’s administration who also serves as the acting national security adviser.
The interview gave Americans a glimpse into Marco Rubio’s life beyond his polished persona — showing him not only as a husband but also a father who listens to EDM, has a sweet tooth, eats Pop-Tarts, and gets corrected by his wife often.
In one clip that has gone viral on Instagram, host Katie Miller asks Marco if he is a supporter of MAHA — Make America Healthy Again.
Marco begins by saying that “he is in favour of MAHA”, but Jeanette quickly interrupts him.
“No, he is not. He is completely not,” she says.
Miller then asks Marco what he eats. And Jeanette was quick to answer: “He eats Pop-Tarts. He eats all the things he should not be eating.”
While for some it is a funny marital banter, for others, it’s rude of Jeanette to keep nagging on a podcast.
One Instagram user said: “Wow, his wife is totally putting him down and corrects him on every question.”
Another comment dissing Jeanette read, “She has a lot to learn about properly supporting her husband in public.”

‘A millennial living with a Gen Z’
The podcast, which drew over 1.5 lakh views within just 24 hours, showed Marco and Jeanette, his wife of nearly three decades, as an ordinary couple. They laughed, interrupted, and spoke about parenting, television habits, and everyday irritations of a married life.
Another such clip that has gone viral on Instagram has Miller asking Jeanette about the one thing she disagrees with Marco on. Marco, laughing, says, “One? That’s for episode two.”
Jeanette responds saying that Marco wants everything to be scheduled and planned while she is spontaneous. She recalls anecdotes of how he stresses about catching a flight hours before.
“Three hours prior to a flight, he is already stressing, ‘We’re not going to make it on time. We’re not going to be able to go’,” Jeanette says as Marco laughs.
That’s when Marco responds by saying that he is preparing for “all the contingencies.”
And social media can’t get enough of them. For many, this conversation was relatable for others, it was funny and looked like people from two different generations married each other.
