New Delhi: Former US President Joe Biden’s memoir Promise Me, America will be released on 17 November, he has revealed in a post on X. The book will focus on his four years as president, as well as his decision to step aside in the re-election campaign.

“I’ve written a book about my time as President. It’s called PROMISE ME, AMERICA. It’s coming out November 17th and is available for preorder now,” read the caption for the post.

In the attached video, Biden shared updates on his health.

“Since I’ve left the presidency, I’ve had a lot of people ask me, ‘Joe, what have you been doing?’ I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family. I’ve been dealing with a cancer diagnosis, and it’s been going really well,” he said.

The former president thanked his well-wishers for their prayers and support. “It’s meant the world to me and Jill,” he said.

The book will be published two weeks after the midterm elections in the country, which could raise concerns for the Democratic Party that hopes to regain control of Congress.

‘Written by autopen’

In the video, Biden said that the memoir would delve into the challenges the US faced during his tenure, and reveal what went into the choices he made in office.

“Leading the country through Covid, rebuilding our economy, and restoring our democracy after the attack on January 6th, ending our nation’s longest war in Afghanistan, strengthening NATO, and supporting Ukraine,” Biden said, listing the challenges he faced.

The comments and quote retweets on the post predominantly featured memes about the controversial autopen.

“Written by Autopen,” read a comment. A quote retweet added that politicians write books as a way to launder money.

“This guy couldn’t even sign his own name. He’s not writing books,” read the post.

Republicans alleged during Biden’s tenure that his aides used the autopen to conceal his cognitive decline and sign unauthorised executive actions and pardons.

Biden ended his video with his vision for the US.

“Most of all, it’s about my faith in the promise of America. The promise we made to those that have come before us and to honour their sacrifice. The promises we’ve made to one another, and to treat everyone with dignity and respect. And the promise we made to the future generations of Americans to remain the beacon to the world,” Biden added.
