New Delhi: More than 41,000 IT jobs are set to open up in September in India’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities, according to the Active Tech Jobs Outlook shared by talent solutions firm Xpheno.
It forecasts a recovery in the IT services job market, with over 57,000 active open jobs in September. This has also pulled up the jobs demand in the IT sector to over 1,17,000 this month, marking an increase of 15 per cent from the talent demand recorded in September last year.
On closer look, Xpheno’s job outlook data shows that while full-time jobs have increased only by 10 per cent, internships and part-time jobs have recorded a staggering 90 per cent growth.
In addition, Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have recorded a 38 per cent increase year-on-year in job openings, with nearly 13,000 active jobs; while tech functions in the Big 4/Big10 have recorded a 68 per cent increase, with 5,000 active jobs.

Dip in metro numbers
As far as locations are concerned, major IT hubs including Bengaluru and Hyderabad have recorded a fall in the number of active jobs by 15 per cent and 8 per cent year-on-year respectively. In addition, IT jobs have fallen by nearly 30 per cent in Chennai. However, Tier-II and Tier-III cities have emerged as new centres for active IT jobs, registering a 95 per cent increase over the last year.
The report also noted that while Work From Office jobs have recorded a 26 per cent growth, full-time remote and hybrid jobs have reduced by 21 per cent and 7 per cent respectively over the last 12 months.
The Active Tech Jobs Outlook Report monitors the job market monthly and curates active job openings directly published by employers. It considers active jobs as opportunities that are published, refreshed, kept active and accepting applications for the report period concerned.
The active job postings are tracked and curated from companies’ career pages, official job pages on prominent social media and direct postings on top job boards. The active jobs count does not include hiring mandates and job openings that are published by and through recruitment and staffing agencies.
