New Delhi: A trainee IPS officer from Hyderabad, who has been booked for sexual harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation, collapsed at a friend’s residence Monday morning. While he was initially reported to have attempted suicide, the doctors treating him have ruled out the possibility.
Uday Krishna Reddy, who allegedly assaulted a fellow woman trainee officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, has been admitted to a hospital in SR Nagar, Hyderabad.
In a recently surfaced letter, Reddy named four persons as the reason for his ‘suicide’, and police are currently investigating whether it was in fact a suicide attempt.
An FIR was registered against him on 19 July after an internal inquiry committee at the NPA found merit in the allegation.
The FIR includes charges under various Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections, including sexual harassment (75), voyeurism (77), stalking (78), and insulting the modesty of a woman (79). It also invokes Section 24, which deals with criminal liability in cases where an accused is intoxicated while committing an offence.
The complainant is a 30-year-old married trainee IPS officer from Karnataka. She alleged in her complaint that Reddy “grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to the room where he showed her a knife and threatened to stab her, and tried to strangulate her with his bare hands. He threw condom packets at her, groped her and even recorded videos of her.”
According to the FIR, Reddy also used abusive language.
The woman officer also alleged that Reddy used a video to blackmail her by sending it to her husband.
Reddy posted a story on his Instagram and WhatsApp accounts, claiming he hasn’t done anything wrong.
“The complaints and rumors against me are baseless and untrue. I fully trust the legal process and believe justice will prevail. I humbly urge the media to confirm the facts before reporting,” read the status.

Reddy lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his grandmother. He joined the Andhra Pradesh police as a constable in 2013 and prepared for the UPSC while being on the job. In 2025, he cleared UPSC, securing 350 rank, and became an IPS officer. His journey was hailed by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. His story was narrated on multiple platforms, giving him instant fame and social media status.
He has 79,000 followers on Instagram and 23,000 subscribers on YouTube. His last video on YouTube is from a year ago, in which he is discussing UPSC preparation. His last Instagram post was a photo from Indore.
Another photo is from the NPA, which is captioned: “Built on courage, bound by service, and inspired by the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”
