New Delhi: Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is returning to the microphone ahead of the country’s midterms with a new podcast. The show, High Stakes, will take on everything from technology, healthcare to the battle for control of Congress. The 2016 Democratic presidential nominee will co-host the show with technology journalist Kara Swisher every week, where the two will analyse issues shaping the November elections.
The limited series will debut Wednesday, 14 October, on the same podcast feed as Swisher’s ‘On With Kara Swisher’, with new episodes running through mid-November. The two will examine key congressional races as US President Donald Trump enters the second half of his second term.
In a post on X announcing the series, Clinton said she and Swisher would explore the “issues and ideas behind this fall’s elections”, ranging from AI to Gen Z.

Speaking about the show, Clinton told The New York Times that “the stakes for the country and the world” are at an all-time high.
“If we don’t reverse this chaos and corruption and cruelty that is being visited upon us by this administration, we won’t recognise our country,” she said.
The podcast comes as Democrats seek to regain ground in Congress during the midterms.
Swisher, known for her candid interviews with figures in technology, business and politics, said the show would also offer listeners a glimpse of Clinton’s personality away from the public stage.
“There’s a thing about the secretary, where it’s like, ‘Oh, if you knew her in the room, she’s so funny,’” Swisher said. “We’re going to try to show you that room.”
How the show happened
The idea for High Stakes emerged after a lengthy conversation between the two at a party earlier this year. Swisher subsequently invited Clinton to fill in for Scott Galloway on an August episode of Pivot, her other podcast. The appearance helped pave the way for the new collaboration.
The series marks Clinton’s second major podcast venture. She previously hosted You and Me Both with Hillary Clinton, an interview show that ran from 2020 to 2023, featuring conversations with politicians, artists, writers and public-health figures.
High Stakes is initially planned as a limited series, although Clinton and Swisher could extend it if it finds an audience.
