New Delhi: Actor R Madhavan is facing backlash for remaining silent on the alleged NEET paper leaks, even as the Cockroach Janta Party-led student protest has been demanding Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the same.
Many artists have come out in support of the student protestors, with some even joining the demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar as well as in Mumbai. However, Madhavan, who is the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), one of the country’s leading film institutes, has been silent.
FTII students mocked his silence by putting up a placard with the text reading “GAYAB” and “NEET for Sale” on the door of his office. An FTII student Nishant Kabir, who goes by the Instagram handle ‘unhinged paradox’, shared an image of the door that has gone viral.

Many took to social media to mock at the actor, with satirical comments over his latest films for the Dhurandhar franchise, where Madhavan plays the role of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
A post on X read, “Madhavan is in studios for Dhurandhar 3, to explain how Major Iqbal printed leaked fake NEET papers.” Another post read, “He’s still in the character of Ajit Doval, living the life of a spy is not easy, you have to stay underground.”
Another social media user targeted the actor, saying, “In case you all don’t remember, he shifted out of India for the future of his son. So he acknowledges there’s no future for kids here and he’s privileged enough to make a move for it rather than raising his voice for change. Sell out.”
Some even dropped his famous dialogue “Abba nhi manenge (my father won’t agree)” from his film 3 Idiots, where Madhavan played the role of Farhan Qureshi.
“Dhurandhar 4 mein prakat hojayega, abhi NRI bankr gayab ho gya chairman (He will appear in Dhurandhar 4, right now the chairman has disappeared like an NRI),” a comment on the post read.
