(Reuters) – Union Pacific Corp said on Monday that two routes into and out of the Los Angeles Basin were closed due to washouts and flood water over the rail, after parts of Southern California and the U.S. Southwest were hit by flash floods.

Public electrical outages are impacting the company’s operations in some terminals along with road closures also impacting transport of crews, the railroad operator said.

“Several trains are being held and we are working to keep our customers informed,” the company said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

Shares of Union Pacific were trading down 0.5%.

The Omaha, Nebraska-based company added that it continues to take proactive measures to respond to potential outages, including staging rail ballast and panels, personnel, and electric generators in areas along the storm path.

The company also said it will provide an update on estimated shipment delays once it is able to assess the status of the network in the area and once the storm passes.
