New Delhi: Prime Video announced the 21 contestants for the second season of The Traitors India at an event in Mumbai Thursday. The cast includes actors Dalip Tahil, Rhea Chakraborty and Mallika Sherawat, comedian Munawar Faruqui, chef Ranveer Brar and art collector Shalini Passi.

The season will premiere on Prime Video on 13 August, with Karan Johar returning as host. New episodes will be released every Thursday. It was filmed at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer earlier this year.

Other contestants include actors Shweta Tiwari, Krystle D’Souza, Parul Gulati and Harman Singha, rapper Ikka, YouTuber Abhishek Malhan and reality television contestant Soundous Moufakir. Content creators Aaditya Kulshreshth, Rida Tharana, Ansh Chopra and Prish are also part of the season.

Faruqui has won two reality shows before this. He won Lock Upp in 2022 and Bigg Boss 17 in 2024. Malhan was the runner-up on Bigg Boss OTT 2, while Moufakir won MTV Splitsvilla X4 and later competed on Khatron Ke Khiladi 13.

A game of ‘Traitors’ and ‘Innocents’

Several contestants come from outside the usual reality-show circuit. Tahil has worked in Hindi films for more than four decades. Brar is a chef and television presenter, while Ikka is a rapper. Karan Singh is a mentalist and Tanya Puri is a private investigator.

Salathia was the first contestant eliminated from the first season. He is also the only person in the new cast who has already played the Indian version of the game. An Innocent, Salathia was the first contestant “murdered” by the Traitors and was removed from the game in the opening set of episodes.

Based on the Dutch series De Verraders, the show divides its contestants into ‘Traitors’ and ‘Innocents’. The Traitors know each other’s identities and secretly remove one Innocent from the game each night.

The Innocents must work out who the Traitors are and vote them out during the round-table sessions. The contestants also take part in physical and psychological tasks to add money to the prize pot.

The first Indian season premiered in June last year. Uorfi Javed and poker player Nikita Luther, both Innocents, won after the remaining Traitors, Purav Jha and Harsh Gujral, were eliminated during the finale. They won a prize of Rs 70.5 lakh.
