New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan has given fans a musical surprise on his 61st birthday. The makers of the upcoming film King unveiled its first song, ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, at midnight on 2 November. The song features Arijit Singh with British musician Ed Sheeran rapping, along with Madhubanti Bagchi. The track also reunites SRK and Deepika Padukone, whose on-screen chemistry once again takes the limelight after 2023’s Jawan.

The music video opens with an intense dialogue by SRK, setting the tone for his character in the Siddharth Anand directorial.

“Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de (I am not a murderer, I am a lover, and my target is my beloved, and what kind of lover is he who does not tear the heart),” he says, before the video transitions into an upbeat romantic dance number featuring the two.

From romantic moments by the beach to grand visuals and glimpses of action, the song offers a peek into the different shades of King.

The video also features another dialogue that hints at the darker, more intense side of the film: “Iss baar dil mein aag lagi hai, ab duniya jalaye bina manega nahi (This time my heart is on fire, now the world will not rest until it burns me).”

The music video has already clocked over 2 million views on YouTube. And like most things related to King and SRK, fans have thoughts.

“No one can beat him at the age of 60; his energy is unmatched,” commented one user.

“SRK + Deepika + Arijit + Ed = Absolute Cinema,” wrote another.

“Picture Abhi Baakii Hai, king Akela Kaafii Hai (The picture is still left, King alone is enough),” posted another, referencing SRK’s famous dialogue from the film Om Shanti Om (2009), which also marked Padukone’s debut.

Composed by Sachin-Jigar, ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ features lyrics by Kumaar, while Sheeran has penned the English rap. The choreography has been handled by Piyush-Shazia.

Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King stars Shah Rukh Khan along with Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Abhay Verma, among others.

The film, which marks Shah Rukh’s reunion with Pathaan (2023) director Anand, is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 December.
