New Delhi: Singer Miley Cyrus has removed her last name from her social media handles, presenting herself simply as “Miley”. This sudden change has sparked speculation that the pop star may be preparing to announce her tenth studio album.
Cyrus, famed for her role as Hannah Montana (2006-2011), also shared a series of photographs of herself in red lighting, captioning the post “MILEY.” The change and the cryptic post have led fans to wonder whether it is part of a rollout for her next musical project.
The development comes shortly after Cyrus moved to Atlantic Records last month, marking a new phase in her career. Her next project will follow her 2025 album Something Beautiful.
Cyrus has previously indicated that she is working on new music. In a recent interview with Wonderland, she described her upcoming album as a “love story”, suggesting that the project could explore themes of love and her relationship with herself.
She began teasing her next musical era earlier last week with red-and-black billboards carrying the words “coming soon”. The campaign began a day before the death of country music icon Dolly Parton, who was also her godmother.
Following Parton’s death at 80 after a battle with cancer, Cyrus wrote on Instagram.
“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis,” she posted.
However, Cyrus has not officially announced the title or release date of the upcoming album. She has also not confirmed that the use of “Miley” represents a permanent name change.
