New Delhi: The documentary Baahubali: The Torch Bearer, released on Netflix on 26 June, gave new hope to franchise fans around the world. The four-episode docu-series revolves around the making of the film, but it was the last 10 seconds of the fourth episode that grabbed everyone’s attention. After the message of thanks, actors Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty could be seen sitting on a couch, when Daggubati announces that there will be a new Baahubali movie.

“I don’t know if I should say this publicly, but since Rajamouli and Shobu aren’t here, I’ll just say what’s on my mind. The world may not be ready yet, but there will be more Baahubali,” he said.

The sentence ended, and Baahubali himself, Prabhas, tried to show three fingers to the camera, indicating the third part of the franchise, but was playfully stopped by Daggubati and Shetty.

However, director SS Rajamouli has not yet said anything about the third film, nor has producer Shobu Yarlagadda. The announcement toward the end of the documentary has since sparked curiosity around the project.

“Goosebumps stuff followed by #Baahubali announcement from the Baahubali himself,” an X user wrote.

“Working hard for five whole years for a single movie (Part 1 and Part 2) is truly incredible. With the upcoming Baahubali 3, you should create even more sensations,” another commented.

While one said, “Mahishmati is ready to roar once again.”

“One sentence from Rana Daggubati has the internet buzzing,” another user remarked.

While the wait has started around the third part of the epic, an animated version of the franchise, Baahubali: The Eternal War, a two-part 3D epic, is slated to release next year.

The film is a standalone story and follows the life of Amarendra Baahubali in the afterlife. After the betrayal and his murder, he participates in the war between the Devas and the Asuras. The screenplay of the film is written by Scott Mosier, director of The Grinch (2018), and it features voice performances by Prabhas and Ramya Krishnan.
