New Delhi: Netflix has unveiled the preview of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and fans are calling it “Om Shanti Om of Gen Z.”
The show explores a raw and unfiltered side of the film industry, capturing the drama, controversies, rumours, and the reality behind it all. The series will start streaming on Netflix from 18 September.
Lakshya plays the lead as Aasmaan Singh, who is managing his way through the tricky world of cinema. Raghav Juyal is the hero’s best friend. It’s their second project together after Karan Johar’s Kill (2023), where the two starred as sworn enemies. In the preview video, released on Wednesday, Sahher Bambba enters as the classic “nepo kid” and Bobby Deol is playing her father.
The show screams big budget. It looks larger than life, with over-the-top VFX, flying cars, and grand production design.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood also stars Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor.
Aryan Khan has co-written the show with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. Gauri Khan has produced the series under the banner Red Chillies Entertainments.
Cameos and digs
In one of the scenes, toward the end of the preview, Aasman is seen behind the bars with a cop telling him not to worry because people become more famous after they are put in prison. For many fans, this was a dig by Aryan who was wrongfully arrested in 2021 in a drugs case.
“No way he said that,” one of the fans commented.
Then there is Karan Johar, who appears to be an over-the-top, foul-mouthed Bollywood producer. His sweatshirt stole the show, it said: “I did nothing. I just got lucky.”
Salman Khan’s cameo got the audience rooting in the comment section while Ranveer Singh also made an appearance reiterating his Gully Boy catchphrase, “Bahut hard.”
However, viewers were quick to point out Shah Rukh Khan’s absence. The superstar, who was present at the launch event of the show in Mumbai, didn’t feature in the preview.
“Super video, but where is SRK?” a user asked.
Though the actor didn’t feature in the video, he himself confirmed his presence in the series. During a recent #AskSRK session on X, Shah Rukh answered whether or not he will be appearing on his son’s show.
“Lots of lovely friends from the industry have participated in Aryan’s series. They have been very very gracious and loving to him. Main toh hun hi…Haq se!” SRK wrote.

First poster out
Earlier in the day, SRK had dropped the first official poster of the show.
“Parda girne ka wait kar rahe ho? Yeh show parda phaad ke aa raha hai.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood Preview, out today,” he wrote on X.
The first look of the show had one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most popular dialogues from Mohabbatein (2000). Aryan Khan featured in the video and declared that this show will be a mix of “bahut saara pyaar (lots of love)” and “thoda sa vaar (a little bit of a roast)” about Bollywood.
