Kolkata, Oct 15 (PTI) Truevis Technologies, a manufacturer and provider of advanced diagnostic and healthcare technologies, on Thursday said the West Bengal government has allotted 50 acres of land in Haldia for its proposed medical equipment manufacturing plant, involving an investment of Rs 500 crore.

The Haldia facility will be the company’s second manufacturing base in India and its first in the eastern part of the country, it said.

The company, in a statement, claimed it expects to manufacture over 1,000 large medical equipment units a year, create more than 5,000 jobs and clock business of over Rs 1,000 crore annually within five years of commissioning.

The new base will help the company serve customers more efficiently, reduce import dependence for select product categories and support its long-term expansion in India’s healthcare equipment sector, it said.

The allotment was announced by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Haldia on Wednesday during the inauguration of AdPerMa Private Limited’s Rs 6,000-crore integrated phenol and acetone complex.

“The 50 acres in Haldia mark an important milestone in Truevis’ growth as a manufacturer. Haldia offers a deep industrial base, a port, power and connectivity, and a government with a clear vision for manufacturing-led growth,” a Truevis spokesperson said.

India still relies substantially on imported medical equipment, and the Haldia plant will bring the manufacture of high-value diagnostic and therapeutic equipment onshore in eastern India, the company said. PTI BSM RG

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
