The Supreme Court seems to have finally understood why Saurashtra, Vadodara, Mumbai, Vidarbha, Railways and Services deserve to be voting members of BCCI. The court should now take the next logical step: Wind up the committee of administrators, which often works at cross-purposes with the requirements of cricket.

Opposition unity against Modi is still a pipedream

The NDA candidate’s victory in the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman’s election has exposed the fallacy of opposition unity. The BJP top leadership’s outreach to allies should calm frayed nerves in the ruling coalition. BJD and TRS supporting NDA shows regional parties are keeping options open. 2019 still remains an opposition mirage.

We welcome the arrival of Swedish chain IKEA to India. That the process took nearly a decade shows the degree of difficulty in ushering in any reform in India. But we hope it will be a breakthrough in organised retailing rivalling the fast-food revolution triggered by Coke, Pepsi and McDonald’s.
