It’s highly irresponsible for a veteran Karnataka BJP leader-minister to say the saffron flag might become the national flag in the future. Karnataka’s BJP politicians are competing with each other to raise the pitch on communalism and polarising politics. The state needs sanity and calm instead of imitating heartland politics.

Men and women in uniform don’t need politicking on pensions or unimplementable OROP promises

The Supreme Court’s stinging comments on the Modi government’s military pensions policy—“hyperbole”, Justice DY Chandrachud called it—underlines the need to free this issue from emotionalism and politicking. India owes our women and men in uniform dignified retirements. Financially-unimplementable OROP promises, though, are just cruelty and not the generosity they deserve.
