Arvind Kejriwal’s speak-no-evil strategy to deal with communal riots in Delhi, which have killed 24 people, is hypocritical. His appreciation of the Delhi Police, a mute spectator in these riots, and reluctance to name those responsible for them betrays wishy-washy leadership. A chief minister must act and not deliver homilies.
Doval’s entry to curb Delhi riots embarrassing censure of police, strong statement on Shah
The paradropping of NSA Ajit Doval to bring peace to Northeast Delhi is an embarrassing indictment of Delhi Police. It is also a strong statement on the inexperience of Home Minister Amit Shah in tackling his first big law-enforcement crisis. Shah and his police have failed the national capital.
CM Arvind Kejriwal took care not to step onto the minefield during the election campaign, a strategy that paid off handsomely. He is now keeping a safe distance from a situation over which he lacks executive authority. He is allowing the people of Delhi to judge for themselves what factors have created this crisis and how effectively it is being resolved.
